Erin C Potter Fine Art

“

Raised in the misty forested hills of the Berkshires, Erin Potter channels a lifetime of alpine light and weather into work that feels both atmospheric and intimately familiar; her canvases aim less to record topography than to translate the emotional tenor of a place, where hush, wind, and the slow burn of seasonal color become the subject.

She pairs traditional plein-air observation with techniques she has developed—layered glazes, lifted pigments, and controlled erosion of surface—to blur the line between representation and abstraction, allowing memory and sensation to reshape ridgelines and valleys into fields of tone and gesture.

The resulting pieces move between recognizable landscape and near-abstract mood studies, inviting viewers to not only see a scene but to inhabit its ephemeral feeling.

Transforming Spaces Through Art

Erin maintains collections across the country—and abroad in Europe and Australia—building a living selling originals as well as taking on a large amount of commissioned work from clients.

Work that emphasize expansive fields of color, drawing clear inspiration from Mark Rothko’s meditative color blocks and J.M.W. Turner’s luminous treatment of light and atmosphere.
